An unidentified man committed suicide after reportedly jumping in front of a train near the Kashiyabari level crossing, close to Joypurhat Railway Station on Thursday.
The identity of the deceased, aged nearly 48 years old, wearing a lungi, a full-sleeve check shirt and a sweater underneath, is yet to be known, according to media reports.
According to eyewitnesses, the man suddenly leapt onto the tracks at the Kashiyabari area when the Dhaka-bound intercity train “Drutajan Express” was approaching Joypurhat Station and died on the spot.
Joypurhat Railway Assistant Station Master Amena Khatun said that the incident has been reported to the Santahar Railway Police for necessary legal procedures.
