A man died at the Tongi Bishwa Ijtema ground in Gazipur at 4:30am on Friday. The matter was confirmed by Habibullah Rayhan, media coordinator of Tablighi Jamaat Bangladesh Shura-e-Nizam.
The deceased, identified as Noor Alam, 80, son of Sultan Ahmad, hailed from Anderchar (Kazi Taluk) village in Noakhali Sadar upazila.
He had been staying in the Noakhali khitta (sector) during the five-day ‘Jor Ijtema’, a preparatory event of the Bishwa Ijtema. Noor Alam died when he was asleep at night. Fellow participants later took him to the medical centre where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
