A man was stabbed to death in Naogaon on Wednesday night following a land dispute. The victim has been identified as Golam Hossain, 52, son of Siraj Uddin of Malanchi village.
The incident took place at Sunlia Malanchi village under Dubolhati Union in Sadar Upazila.
According to victim’s cousin, Noyon Islam and two brothers–Harunur Rashid and Azad–got into a longstanding dispute over land. A few days ago, both parties attended a meeting with a lawyer where Golam Hossain spoke in favour of Azad. On Wednesday night, Harun’s son Antar stabbed Golam Hossain following an altercation with his father.
Golam Hossain died on the way to Naogaon Sadar Hospital.
Nur Alam Siddiqui, Officer-in-Charge of Naogaon Sadar Police Station, said the police visited the scene on the night of the incident. The body was sent to Naogaon Sadar Hospital morgue and will be handed over to the family after autopsy. He added that a case is being prepared and legal action will be taken once it is filed.
