Police have arrested Ayesha, the main accused in the murder of a mother and daughter in Mohammadpur, Dhaka.
She was apprehended from the Nalchity area of Jhalokati, Barisal, at 12:30pm on Wednesday, confirmed Abdullah Al Mamun, Assistant Commissioner of Mohammadpur Police under the Tejgaon zone.
He said: “Ayesha was arrested with the help of information technology and secret communication. She had secretly entered the house of a relative in Nalchity. She is being brought to Dhaka.”
Earlier on Monday, Ayesha allegedly killed the mother, Laila Firoz, 48, and her daughter, Nafisa Lawal Binte Aziz, 15, before fleeing the scene. CCTV footage showed her wearing a burqa and taking the elevator to the 7th-floor flat at 7:51am. She later left at 9:35am wearing a mask, carrying a bag, and dressed in a school uniform.
The deceased Nafisa was a ninth-grade student at Mohammadpur Preparatory School.
