National Citizen Party (NCP) has welcomed the national election scheduled, saying it has no objections for now but may raise concerns after a thorough review.

The party’s chief coordinator, Nasiruddin Patwary, shared the party’s response at their office in Banglamotor, Dhaka on Thursday evening around 7pm, following the announcement of the election schedule.

“We have no objections to the schedule at the moment. We welcome it. If we discover any concerns or issues after conducting a deeper review, we will, In Sha Allah, hold a separate press briefing with our coalition formed in favor of reforms,” he said.

Patwary also expressed doubts about the Election Commission’s impartiality, questioning whether it can operate independently of party influence. “ASPs and DCs are being appointed through lottery, but it hasn’t been made clear to the nation who exactly is being appointed. This is being done through an opaque process,” he said.

He also said NCP had not received any clear explanation regarding the “questionable” aspects of the referendum raised by the interim government.

The party called on the public to ensure polling centers remain free from “party thugs, terrorists, extortionists, or those involved in corruption and money laundering” during the election. “Let the people guard the people’s polling centers,” Patwary urged.

He expressed hope that the Election Commission’s rules and regulations will be followed and that all parties will participate in conducting a fair election. “We hope for a good, healthy, and credible election with honest and capable candidates—something we have been waiting for a long time,” he added.

Patwary also raised concerns about harassment faced by the party’s female candidates online and urged the Election Commission to establish a monitoring cell to address the issue. “We still haven’t seen any significant progress on this matter. We hope a monitoring cell will be quickly formed to protect Bangladesh’s youth and women who took part in the mass uprising,” he said.
