Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that once the people of the country become election-oriented, no one will be able to obstruct the election, and it will be held properly.

He made the remarks Thursday afternoon at the premises of Rajdia Abdul Jabbar Pilot Girls’ High School in Sirajdikhan Upazila of Munshiganj after laying foundation stones for new buildings at five educational institutions.

Saying that a fair election would be possible if political parties coexist instead of engaging in rivalry, the adviser urged media professionals to present objective news and encourage public participation in the electoral process.

Speaking about Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, he said: “Our Osman Hadi is currently undergoing treatment in Singapore. I request everyone to pray for his recovery so that he can return to us.” When journalists asked about the arrest of the main suspect in the incident, the adviser said: “It is true that the prime accused has not yet been arrested, but his associates have been arrestred. Others involved will also be arrested.”

Jahangir also serves as adviser to the Ministry of Agriculture. speaking on agriculture, he said: “Many farmers suffered losses in potato cultivation this season. Even then, they have come forward again to plant potatoes. The government is seriously considering incentives for them. Although there have been losses in potatoes, rice production has been good this year.”

Earlier, the adviser laid foundation stones for new and expanded academic buildings at Kusumpur Government Primary School, Kusumpur High School, Ichhapura Government Model High School, Bikrampur Kunjabehari Government College, and Rajdia Abdul Jabbar Pilot Girls’ High School.

Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner Syeda Nurmahal Ashrafi and Superintendent of Police Md Mehnazul Alam were present at the event.
