Nahid Islam, convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP), said that the July Charter must be presented to the chief adviser, emphasizing that there is no provision for a note of dissent in the charter.
He expressed hope that the July Charter would be implemented promptly, allowing the country to move toward elections.
He made these comments on Friday at the launch event of the University Teachers Forum (UTF) held at Bangla Academy in Dhaka.
Nahid Islam stressed that a comprehensive reform of the education system is essential for a fundamental transformation of the state, particularly to address unemployment. He urged the need for reforms in the education sector and the implementation of necessary changes.
He further noted that the nation will forever remember the contribution of teachers during the July uprising with deep respect. For the past sixteen years, promotions for teachers were granted based on party affiliation, leaving a fascist structure still present in Bangladesh.
He argued that fascism cannot be eradicated without a change in the mindset of individuals and society.
While acknowledging that the interim government failed to bring about the envisioned reforms in the education system, he affirmed that the NCP would continue its struggle to achieve these changes.
