The wife of a Rab official was found murdered at their residence in Sarishabari upazila of Jamalpur early Thursday.
The incident occurred around 3:30am in the Simlabazar area.
The victim, Lipi Akter, 35, was the wife of SI Mohor Uddin, who serves with Rab-2 in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur.
According to police and local sources, Lipi and her daughter Nithi went to bed on Wednesday night. Early Thursday morning, a burglar cut the window grill and entered the house. When Lipi recognized the intruder, he strangled her with a scarf. Police recovered her body in the morning after being informed.
OC Bacchu Mia said Lipi’s body has been recovered and sent to the morgue for autopsy. Legal procedures are underway.
