The Rangpur Riders-BSJA Media Cup Cricket 2025, powered by ACE Developers, is set to begin on Monday, December 15, with 32 leading media houses from across the country competing for the title.
Organised by the Bangladesh Sports Journalists Association (BSJA) and sponsored by Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) franchise Rangpur Riders, the annual six-a-side tournament aims to promote camaraderie and recreation among working journalists. Nabil Group, ACME and Ispahani Group are co-sponsors of the tournament.
The tournament was officially announced at a press conference held on Sunday at the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) auditorium. Rangpur Riders’ Global Super League-winning captain Nurul Hasan Sohan attended the event, along with the franchise’s Head of Operations Tasvir Ul Islam.
Speaking at the press conference, Sohan praised the initiative, saying such tournaments help journalists stay mentally fresh alongside their demanding professional responsibilities. Tasvir Ul Islam expressed pride in Rangpur Riders’ association with the Media Cup and wished all participating teams success.
BSJA President Arifur Rahman Babu said journalists eagerly await the Media Cup every year and hoped the 2025 edition would be as competitive as previous tournaments. BSJA General Secretary SM Sumon echoed similar sentiments, thanking the sponsors for their continued support.
Star News CEO and BCB Media Committee Vice-Chairman M Mokhlesur Kamal, ACME Head of Consumer Products Lt Col (Rtd) Engineer M Ali Reza, Tournament Committee Convener Raihan Al Mugni and BSJA Joint General Secretary Arafat Zubaear were also present.
During the event, the tournament format was explained, jerseys were unveiled, and the draw and groupings were completed.
