The body of a female student from the Institute of Education and Research at Rajshahi University (RU) was recovered early Wednesday from a flat in the Mirzapur area’s Islam Tower.
Police said she took her own life by hanging herself with a saree tied to a ceiling fan.
The deceased was identified as Sonia Sultana Tania, a student of the 2019–20 academic session. Police said her father is a retired government official.
According to police, Sonia lived with her family in the flat. Four notes were found in her room. One of them read:
“No one is responsible for my death. Please do not conduct a post-mortem. Amma, Abbu, Dhrubatara — I love you all very much. Please forgive me. Ask Allah to forgive me too.”
