The Russian ambassador to Bangladesh on Monday highlighted the growing scope of Russian–Bangladeshi cooperation in culture, education and science while reviewing bilateral engagements during a year-end press conference in Dhaka.

The ambassador said cooperation between the two countries witnessed dynamic development in 2025, particularly in the areas of cultural exchange, educational collaboration and scientific engagement.

During the event, Alexandra Khlevnoy, director of the Russian House in Dhaka, presented key projects implemented throughout the year. She thanked the Embassy of the Russian Federation and Bangladeshi media partners, and outlined the humanitarian, cultural and educational activities carried out in 2025.

Khlevnoy said the Russian House works closely with the embassy and serves as a platform for promoting dialogue through culture, education, science and people-to-people exchanges.

She identified cultural diplomacy as one of the most visible areas of cooperation, citing concerts, folklore performances, national celebrations, film screenings and commemorative events organised during the year. According to her, these large-scale public programmes drew thousands of visitors in Dhaka and helped strengthen cultural dialogue between the two countries while reflecting their shared historical ties.

Education was described as a strategic priority, with Khlevnoy welcoming the decision to increase Russian government scholarships for Bangladeshi students to 200 in 2026. She said the move represents an investment in human capital and the future of bilateral relations.

She reaffirmed the Russian House’s commitment to promoting Russian language education, academic and research cooperation, and student exchanges, expressing optimism about further expansion of educational and cultural collaboration in the coming year.

The press conference also highlighted ongoing cooperation in education and science, noting that the expanded scholarship programme will open new opportunities for Bangladeshi students. The Russian House continues to support academic exchanges, educational seminars and language training initiatives.

At the event, Dmitry Khrustalev, creator of the RT Doc documentary channel, officially presented the International Documentary Film Festival “RT.DOC: Time of Our Heroes.”
