Zahidul Islam, 48, a security guard at Target Denim and Casual Wear Garments Factory, died after falling from the factory roof while lowering the national flag. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening, December 16, and was confirmed by Harun-ur-Rashid, Officer-in-Charge of Basan Police Station.
Zahidul, son of Anjib Ali from Kormodha village, Kulaura Upazila, Moulvibazar, was residing in Naojor with freedom fighter Salah Uddin and worked as a junior security guard at the factory. According to sources, he climbed to the roof on the second floor to lower the flag when he slipped and fell onto the concrete floor, suffering severe head and facial injuries.
He was immediately taken to Rahatunnesa General Hospital and later transferred to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Rafiqul Islam, the factory’s administrative manager, said the guard suddenly fell ill and was taken to the hospital, while director Mirajul Islam noted the factory was closed on Tuesday and promised further details later.
OC Harun-ur-Rashid stated that the victim lost balance on the roof and sustained fatal injuries. The police have completed the postmortem, and Zahidul’s wife has filed a case at Basan Police Station.
