Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury, chairperson of Trinamool BNP, has retired from the party.

He submitted his resignation on Sunday through a letter sent to the party’s secretary general, Taimur Alam Khandaker.

In the letter, Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury wrote: “Through you, I would like to inform everyone that, due to health reasons, I, Shamsher M Chowdhury, have decided to retire from politics. At the same time, I resign from all positions within Trinamool BNP. My decision will take immediate effect from November 16, 2025.”

Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury previously served as a vice-chairman of the BNP.

He resigned from all BNP positions in 2015.

In 2018, he joined Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh, led by former President AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury.

In September 2023, just before the 12th national parliamentary election, he became chairperson of Trinamool BNP.

Some critics claim that the then-ruling Awami League attempted to form a “king’s party” through Trinamool BNP.
