A 15-year-old boy, Md Bappi, was beaten to death after being lured from his home in Jatrabari, Dhaka, over a false theft accusation, his family has claimed.

The incident took place in the Dholaipar area.

SI Asaduzzaman Jewel of Jatrabari police station confirmed that Bappi’s body was recovered on Wednesday night in front of Baitul Rahmat Nurani Madrasa and sent to Dhaka Medical College for autopsy after legal procedures. His body showed multiple injuries from the assault.

Police said the boy was beaten to death on suspicion of theft. The family filed a murder case naming several individuals and six to seven unidentified persons, totaling 12–13 accused. Among them, a woman named Fauzia Rawshan Akter Priti has been arrested.

Bappi’s elder brother, Md Parvez, said Bappi worked as a laborer with their mother, Parul Begum.

According to Parvez, a woman falsely accused Bappi of stealing from her house in Shekhpara. On Tuesday, local individuals identified as drug dealers—Bokate Kapshi Russel, Molla Shuvo, and Sakib—allegedly took him from his home. Bappi was reportedly held at the woman’s house, tortured, and beaten by her and her family.

He was later beaten throughout the day and left dead in an alley near a neighboring house on Wednesday evening. Police recovered his body around 3am and sent it to the morgue.

Bappi was the son of Md Shahjahan from Nalbunia, Shyamnagar, Bagerhat. At the time of the incident, he was living with family in West Dholaipar, Shyampur.
