Members of the Coast Guard recovered the body of a female tourist today, who went missing two days ago after a boat capsized in a river in the Sundarbans. The body was found at Sailo Jetty in Mongla upazila of Bagerhat district.

The deceased was identified as Riana Azad, 28, daughter of Abul Kalam Azad of Barisal district and wife of Tauhidul Islam, a Bangladeshi expatriate in USA.

The Coast Guard members recovered the body of Riana from the Pashur River around 7 am, said media officer of the Coast Guard, Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haque.

On Saturday, a tourist boat carrying 14 people sank in Dhangmari canal along the estuary of Pashur River in the Sundarbans due to strong currents.

Thirteen people including children managed to swim ashore but Riana went missing.

The body was handed over to Chandpai River Police.
