An eight-member expert team from Turkiye has arrived in Dhaka to investigate the fire incident at the cargo village of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
On Sunday, the delegation met with SK Bashir Uddin, adviser to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.
According to an official press release, the Turkish team is led by First Degree Chief Superintendent Oykun Ilgun, with Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Ramis Sen also present at the meeting.
The ministry stated that the meeting included detailed discussions about the cargo village fire investigation. The Turkish experts assured full technical and institutional support for the probe.
The fire at the airport’s import cargo complex on October 18 was brought under control after 27 hours.
The Exporters Association of Bangladesh (EAB) estimated the damage could amount to Tk12,000 crore.
On Saturday, Home Affairs Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury visited the site and said that experts from the UK, Australia, China, and Turkey would assist in determining the cause of the fire and identifying any possible negligence.
