A two-day poet conference has begun in Bogra, bringing together over 200 poets and writers from across Bangladesh. BNP district president Rezaul Karim Badsha inaugurated the event organized by Bogra Lekhok Chakra at the District Council Auditorium on Friday morning.

The inaugural ceremony was chaired by Dr Belal Hossain, principal of Government Mojibur Rahman Bhandari Women’s College and adviser to the organization. The chief guest was Dr Moha. Hasanath Ali, Vice-Chancellor of Naogaon University, and the welcome speech was delivered by Bogra Lekhok Chakra president, poet Islam Rafique.

During the inauguration, the organization’s publication Ikshan, the growth journal Neor, a souvenir, two seminar papers, and a collection of essays by Muhammad Shahidullah, Kabir Day, Kabitar Mukti, were unveiled. Notable guests included former secretary and writer Aminul Islam, advisor poet Bazlul Karim Bahar, poet-scholar Professor Muhammad Shahidullah, advocate Palash Khandakar, cultural activist Tofiqul Alam Tipu, journalists and leaders from various BNP-affiliated organizations.

The two-day event will feature opening and closing ceremonies, two seminars, three discussion sessions, and four poetry reading sessions. A mini book fair has been set up in the District Council premises, showcasing works by national and local writers, as well as little magazines and traditional sweets (Pitha).

Before the inauguration, a colourful rally took place through the main streets of the town, with poets joining in song and dance. On the first day, eight sessions were held, including one seminar, two discussion sessions, and two poetry reading sessions. Notable participants included writers, poets, and scholars such as Nur Kamrun Nahar, Rafiqur Rashid, Dr Mahfuza Hilali, and others. The first day concluded with a special performance by the group Onnorokom.
